Song 1980-24: Isaac Hayes, “Don’t Let Go”

I could probably name more Isaac Hayes’ television appearances than I could Isaac Hayes songs. Granted, his 1971 “Theme From Shaft” hit #1, but “Don’t Let Go” was his only HOT 100 chart appearance in the ’80s. Making it to #18 in 1980, the song ended up the #63 song for the entire year.

Memorable lyric: “Hound dogs barkin’ upside the hill. Love is draggin’ him through the mill. If it wasn’t for havin’ you, girl I’d be a-howlin’ and a-barkin’ too.”
