Song 1980-48: Rufus and Chaka, “Do You Love What You Feel”

Producer extraordinaire Quincy Jones helped r&b act Rufus put out several albums in the ’70s. Toward the end of the decade, the band’s lead singer Chaka Kahn began receiving billing as a featured artist. “Do You Love What You Feel” was billed as Rufus and Chaka and peaked at #30 in 1980.

Chaka Kahn (with and without band Rufus) would go on to appear in the HOT 100 several times in the ’80s, including one of the most played dance songs of the ’80s (Song 1984-296 is still to come).

Memorable lyric: “You and I are close together. Your lovin’ gets me feeling better.”
